January 5, 2003. Added Chris's Showdown Site to the links. A very nice Showdown website!

If you have any FAQs, rules, etc. you would like to see on this site, please let me know or post on the message board.

November 28, 2002. I have added a new message board to the site. Feel free to discuss anything NFL Showdown!

Another FAQ update; Burst Of Speed (and similar kick return cards) can be played on any kickoff or punt, even if the chart or a strat cards states "no return."

November 7, 2002. Updated/revised some FAQ, most notably Trick Plays. It cannot be kept in play if there is change of possession and the offense cannot swipe QB#1 is the QB is called upon. View the FAQ page for details.

Errata on the defensive strategy card TRICK PLAYS.
Defense strategy card. Use before swiping plays.
Leave this card in play. Whenever The PlayGrid asks your opponent for a #1 player, your opponent must swipe his or her #2 player instead, then you discard this card or a card from you hand.

Ruling - TRICK PLAYS must be discarded after every change of possession. If TRICK PLAYS is in play and the PlayGrid call for QB#1, your opponent must use the back up player button.

August 30, 2002. Straight from WotC...update on official rules for 2003!
The total point value of a constructed team must not exceed 7,000 points.
Strategy Decks must contain exactly 28 cards, with no more than 4 copies of any card.
Coaches may only play one strategy card with the same name per down.
The defense always has the opportunity to play strategy cards first.
Coaches play strategy cards back and forth until both pass back-to-back, then apply the final result.
Both coaches draw five strategy cards before the opening kickoff.
Each roster must consist of one kicker, one punter, one quarterback, two running backs, two offensive linemen, two tight ends, two wide receivers, two defensive linemen, two linebackers, two cornerbacks, and two safeties.
Play one half.
Two-Minute Warning - Each coach with more than 7 cards in his or her hand discards down to 7.
Discard after a run play - No.
Time-Outs - No.
Audible - No.

August 20, 2002. From Damon, WotC guru...NFL Showdown 2003 tourney rules. These rules become official September 1st for all DCI sanctioned tournaments. They will be used at league stores too.
